When you first begin yoga, it can be a daunting thing. It’s not your traditional form of exercise, whereby you sweat and strain and huff and puff until you’re blue in the face.
Okay, some might say it is. Goodness knows my first few lessons saw me panting like I’d just run a marathon. In any case, yoga does tend to be a lot more relaxed and refined than, say, workouts at a gym where you take your aerobic mat and don your leotard and leg warmers. With yoga you can wear anything comfortable; my favourites are track pants and sneakers and an old t-shirt I can move around in. Something without seams that dig into your sides while you’re doing the Swiss balls UK work, or while you’re lying on the yoga mats doing your stretches is perfect.
Yoga is basically a set of moves that are designed to do many things. These days, yoga is primarily a form of exercise, although it is still practiced to attain a kind of Nirvana through meditation. Whatever the reason for you partaking in this ancient exercise, yoga takes practice and dedication. It’s been around for some time, so it must work – if you stick at it!
